Soon-to-Be Sister-in-Laws
"I'm always trying to capture those nice kind of relaxed moments between the members of the royal family," he said, exemplified in this shot of Markle and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton on Commonwealth Day earlier this week. "I like how you can see the Duchess of Cambridge's bump on the right. At the same time, it was a really nice smile from Meghan as she got out of the car. Clearly they have a warm relationship."
A Posy for a Princess
"Princess Charlotte is so sweet. This was actually her first ever bouquet that she received when she arrived into Germany on a world tour," Jackson remembered. "There's such a feel good factor after you've taken the photo because it's just so sweet and [the kids] add a whole new dynamic...It doesn't always go as planned, but it's lovely to have them on the world tour."
Snack Time
"Royal pictures are either historical or they're poignant or they mean something or they're historic and to me, sometimes we find more humorous pictures," Jackson said of this shot of Queen Elizabeth II feeding an elephant. "If the picture make someone smile, you may sort of done your job and I love this picture. No one was expecting the queen to get anywhere near the elephant."
A Royal Silhouette
"For me, it's so many photographs day in and day out. It was a rare moment," Jackson recalled of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's visit to Musee d'Orsay in Paris in March 2017. "I didn't think this picture would work initially but when they sort of got and looked out at the river...It was just doing something a little bit different, a little bit more creative and one of my favorite pictures of the Duke and Duchess."
Saying Hello
"To see Prince George get up on his tip toes. That for me—that's what makes the picture," Jackson said of this image taken at Princess Charlotte's christening. "It's one of those things you don't expect and for me that was a favorite picture from the day and it just kind of illustrates it. It's not always what we expect on the day."
An Afternoon of Bubbles
"He was with his dad actually and he was blowing bubbles," Jackson recalled of this particular shot of Prince George. "You get these lovely kind of really real reactions as he sort of looked up at the bubbles...it's just the look of excitement and awe on his face. Obviously whenever Prince George is there and his parents are there as well, it's just lovely to get the interactions between them."
A Family Dynamic
"I love this picture because it was a nice moment when they all sort of laughed together," he said of their joint appearance at the first annual Royal Foundation Forum in February. "I think it's amazing where the interviewer said do you guys always get on as a family and they all sort of started laughing. It's nice to see the kind of interaction between all four of them. It's lovely to see this new dynamic and photograph all four of them together."
Husband and Wife
"I included that because that was a big moment in my sort of royal career I suppose," Jackson said of this iconic image of Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton's 2011 wedding. "To get them both looking at the camera and exposed properly is a huge relief for me."
